My name is Tanya I am currently in the process of starting a 24 hour non-profit organization. Silent Blessings in memory of my son Michael.
The goal of this organization is to help all families with critically ill, handicapped, and special needs children that have mounting bills due to hospitalization. There are not enough resources out there for these families.
Unfortunately, I know first-hand how hard and expensive it is. In 2003, at only 2-years-old my son Michael was diagnosed with brain cancer. For 3 ½ years we were in and out of the hospital. Michael fought a long and hard battle, but by the middle of July 2006, his tumor had taken over. On August 4, 2006 at only 6-years-old he passed away.
During our 3 ½ years of hospital stays, I have come to know that medical Bills are not the only additional expense for these families. Often families do not live close to the hospital and struggle with the additional cost of food, gas, and childcare for their other children. Over the years we saw many of the children siting in their rooms all alone because their parents were unable to make it in to see them. These families also often lose wages due to doctors’ appointments, and unexpected emergency room visits. These families need your help! Together we can help lift some of the financial burden.
By the end of 2014, we hope to have a national program in place so that we can reach out to many more families that are in need. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this I hope you consider joining us in our efforts.
